Units of Measure
Units:
Use metric units for mass, length, area, volume, and capacity.
Convert between units, including:
Length: mm, cm, m, km (multiply by 10 as you move to the right)
Area: mm², cm², m², km² (multiply by 10² as you move to the right)
Volume: mm³, cm³, m³ (multiply by 10³ as you move to the right)
Capacity: ml, l
Mass: g, kg
Convert between area and volume units, e.g. cm² ↔ m², m³ ↔ liters.
Area and Perimeter
Key Concepts
Break compound shapes into simpler components.
Use known formulas from 5.2–5.4 for each part.
Add or subtract areas/volumes as needed.
Be careful with units and π—answers may be asked for in terms of π or as decimals.
